The day was still cold and crisp, gloomy and dreary, but when she laid her eyes on Levi, she thought shea’d found her sunshine. He was suave and knew all the right things to say to persuade her to his way of doing things, but behind that glowing facade lurked a hateful, controlling monster. A knock rapped at the door before the doorbell rang. Kaia switched off the vacuum and went to answer it. On the other side of the door stood Pamela and her boyfriend, Kyle, her brother, Harley, and his best friend, Wade who Kaia had had a crush on.

She greeted and welcomed them in, pleased to see Pamela. Kaia knew Levi had done his best to separate the two friends, but both Kaia and Pamela stubbornly tried to hang onto their 12-year long friendship.
